Bob Hawkesworth is the experienced, trusted voice Calgary-Foothills needs in the legislature. Bob served two terms as the New Democrat MLA for Calgary-Mountain View and was a Calgary City Councillor for 23 years.
Bob has extensive experience working diligently on behalf of the people of Alberta. As Alderman he was Chair of the Calgary Regional Planning Commission, and the Audit Committee. He served as a member of the Calgary Regional Mental Health Council and of the Calgary Regional Arts Foundation.
Bob was as a Member on the Standing Committee on the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund Act, the Special Select Committee on Constitutional Renewal and on the Public Accounts Committee. Bob was a founding director of Enmax, the City of Calgary's wholly owned utility company.
Bob's passion for improving the lives of Calgarians and Albertans continues. He has volunteered for organizations such as the Calgary Zoological Society, the Convention Centre Authority and the Calgary Homeless Foundation. He is also the founding director of Climate Change Central.
Bob has been recognized with the AUMA Award of Excellence for outstanding service to municipal government in Alberta, the 2000 Calgary United Way "Spirits of Gold Award" for co-chairing the Calgary Homeless Initiative and in 2005, Alberta Venture Magazine named him one of Alberta's 50 Most Influential People.
