Born and reared in Calgary, I am a student of Computer Engineering at Queen’s University. I have, for many years, been interested in politics, public policy, and business, and have participated in the MLA-for-a-Day program representing the riding of Calgary North-West in the Alberta Legislature, the Ivey Business Case Competition, and the Queen’s University Model Parliament in the House of Commons.

As an Intern Analyst with an investment firm, I learned about the conditions and practices that foster the expansion and growth of business value. In my role as Professional Development Project Coordinator with the Queen’s Engineering Society, I developed a better understanding of the problems which plague our post-secondary institutions and the challenges students face as they try to build careers in an unpredictable economic environment. And while campaigning on behalf of a Ward 2 candidate in the 2013 Calgary municipal election, I came to realize how easy it is for policies and platforms to fall short of addressing the everyday concerns of ordinary citizens.

By standing as a candidate in Calgary-Bow, I hope to inspire other young adults not just to vote in the current election, but to remain engaged long afterward in the ongoing discussion that is our provincial democracy. Albertans are demanding new solutions to the old challenges of economic opportunity, fiscal responsibility, and access to services such as first-rate health care and education. By staying informed about and active in the decision-making process, we of the millennial generation can contribute much in the way of perspective, insight, and energy to making those solutions a reality.

A vibrant, dynamic future can be ours for the taking. Let’s dream it. Let’s do it. All of us. Together.
