David Khan was born here in Calgary, in the Holy Cross Hospital in Mission. He has a degree in chemistry from the University of British Columbia and a degree in law from the University of Toronto. His father is originally from India and has a Master's degree in Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and worked in the oil & gas industry in Calgary; his mother is an accountant originally from West Vancouver.

He practices Aboriginal Law across Canada, and has represented or assisted in the representation of clients at all levels of court in numerous Canadian jurisdictions, including the Supreme Court of Canada.

“I have always been passionate about advancing progressive social issues, and it’s shocking how this tired government neglects social issues and vital public services” says Khan. “We need a new vision for Alberta, one that champions our Medicare system, invests in education for our children and young people, works with the City of Calgary to fund and build much-needed infrastructure, and responsibly develops our oil and gas assets with a view to saving for our future--strong relationships and partnerships with First Nations are key in this regard. It is time for a strong economy AND a strong society, which is what I’ll be championing in Calgary.

"I love downtown Calgary. I've lived in the Beltline since I moved back to Calgary in 2005, and for a couple of years in the late 90s. Some of my favourite places include the Ship & Anchor, Una Pizza & Wine, Analog Coffee, Boxwood, the Coup, Gravity Pope, Local 510, CHARCUT, Hotel Le Germain, and River Cafe, among others. We are lucky to have vibrant and dynamic local businesses here.

"I'm thrilled to be nominated as the Alberta Liberal Party candidate for Calgary-Buffalo in the upcoming election. I'm proud my friend Kent Hehr is running for federal office (along with my friends Matt Grant, Darshan Kang, Marlo Raynolds and Jeff Rock!) and will be a cabinet minister in less than eight months... And I hope we're able to win this seat and continue his record of passionate public advocacy and legislating in pursuit of better governance for downtown Calgary and our great province as a whole."
