Communist League candidate in Calgary Cross, Katherine LeRougetel, 57, a long-time trade-unionist and factory worker supports the fight for a $15 an hour minimum wage and of rail workers for safety on the job. As part of her decades-long involvement in the fight against the US embargo against Cuba, LeRougetel invites everyone to meet Dr. Portilla on May 22, a Cuban doctor speaking on Cuba’s exemplary role in the fight against Ebola in West Africa. She joined the April 4, 2015 march in Calgary to demand justice for Anthony Heffernan, who, unarmed, was shot dead by police in March in his motel room. As a young woman, her first political activity was to participate in the defense of Dr.Henry Morgentaler, abortion provider and abortion rights activist.
