Joe Ceci has been one of Calgary’s most respected and effective City Councillors, serving the residents in Calgary Fort from 1995-2010 as their chosen representative for 5 consecutive terms.

Joe’s vision of a vibrant, inclusive, and diverse Calgary keeps him motivated and has guided him through a wide range of accomplishments. During his time in public office, Joe fought diligently for matters related to social justice and community economic development, with a specific focus on:

• Community safety and crime prevention
• Affordable Housing
• Equal opportunities for all Calgarians
• Environmental and community clean-ups

Joe holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Calgary. Prior to being elected to public office, Joe spent 15 years serving neighbourhoods in east Calgary as a community worker. Joe’s leadership was well recognized by his peers during his time on City Council and he was appointed to serve on the Family and Community Support Services Association of Alberta, as well as the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

Joe and his wife Christine have been long-time residents of Inglewood, where they currently live. Since stepping down from City Council, Joe has remained a strong advocate for social justice and inclusion. He currently manages a Public Policy program for a local non-profit organization, working to promote policy improvements that support low-income Calgarians.
