Carla Drader was born and raised in Calgary. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor's in Economics and Political Science and worked for the City of Calgary. She later returned to the University of Alberta and obtained a Master’s Degree in Adult and Higher Education, focusing on continuing professional education. After graduating, she worked in community-based adult education at CFB Edmonton. While working for The Family Resource Centre assisting military members and their families, she developed the first on Base Career Resource Centre, which was used as the model for all other CFB Family Resource Centres.
She returned to Calgary with a young family and continued her education with a diploma in psycho-educational skills and guidance at the University of Calgary. She began working as a career coach at Bow Valley College. Carla is an active and lifelong learner. Her concern for community issues — and her ability to bring about transformation — has motivated her to run for office. Just as she does with her clients, she intends to help Alberta reach its fullest potential.
