Marc Chikinda is the Dean of Communication Studies at Calgary’s Mount Royal University. Prior to becoming dean, Marc was a professor of broadcast journalism and a former department chair. He has received numerous awards for teaching, including included two national awards. He is a former president of the Mount Royal Faculty Association and a former member of Mount Royal’s Board of Governors. Marc has also worked as a broadcast journalist for both CBC radio in Calgary and CKUA radio in Edmonton.
In 1988, Marc was a recipient of an Alberta Achievement Award for his efforts in helping to organize television and radio coverage of the Winter Olympic Games. Marc has several academic credentials from both Alberta and foreign universities and colleges. He speaks several languages fluently. Marc is a frequent media commentator and writes columns for the Calgary Herald.
Marc believes passionately in the power of education to unlock human potential. Marc says, “education equals liberation.”
