Sandra Jansen entered provincial politics in 2012 after 25 years as a journalist, the last 10 of those on the national news desk at CTV News. She has a Master of Arts in Professional Communication.

Sandra grew up in Northwest Calgary, attending grade school right through post-secondary there and has an in-depth knowledge of the issues concerning its constituents. As former Associate Minister of Family and Community Safety, Sandra released Alberta's first Family Violence Framework and has championed work on issues from bullying to intimate partner violence. She is Co-Chair of the Alberta Inter-Agency Council on Homelessness and the former Chair of Calgary Caucus.

Why I’m running:

I believe Calgary-North West residents deserve an MLA who is committed to the idea that their collective voice has an impact on government. That's why, with the help of residents, I fought for and was successful in getting a middle school for Royal Oak and an alternative location for a contentious oil well that infringed on a residential area. My greatest pleasure in my role as MLA has been the opportunity to act as a successful advocate for not only NW residents, but also all Albertans who value fairness, equality and safety for their families.

I would be honoured to continue to serve as your voice in our Legislature.
