Stephanie obtained her degree in Law at the University of Calgary in 2012, and in 2014 started her own law practice. Stephanie has an entrepreneurial spirit and has since partnered with a colleague to form GTM LLP, where she practices family law and criminal defence. Stephanie resides with her family in the neighbourhood of Calgary Varsity near Market Mall.

Stephanie’s father was a professional engineer with Devon Canada in Calgary Alberta, who passed in 2008 after a 6 year struggle with cancer. Her father’s struggle and experience with the health care system in Alberta has made Stephanie a knowledgeable health care advocate.

Jessica, Stephanie’s older sister, is a Special Olympics athlete. Stephanie is very proud of her sister and takes every opportunity to advocate for those with living with mental and physical disabilities.

Stephanie is an executive member of the Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and is a member of the Friends of Medicare board.

In the 2014 Calgary by-election, she ran as the Alberta NDP Candidate in Calgary-Elbow. Stephanie effectively used this opportunity to draw attention to the ongoing Legal Aid crisis in Alberta. She and Rachel Notley held the Progressive Conservatives to account for their constant underfunding of Legal Aid. As a result of their advocacy, the government directed some additional and immediate funding to this service.

Stephanie shares both the provincial and federal NDP passion for people and social good. Historically, the influence of the NDP on the Canadian political landscape has been tremendous. Stephanie is looking forward to continuing that tradition in representing the NDP in her community.
