Biography

(The following text was provided by the candidate or campaign.)

Gerard Lucyshyn is the Wildrose candidate for Calgary-West.

Born in Saskatoon, Gerard spent his childhood years in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from University of Winnipeg and Master of Arts in Economics from Carleton University in Ottawa.

Gerard, his wife Sheila, and their two sons returned to Alberta in 2001. As a firm believer in giving back to the community, Gerard has a long history of volunteering and participating in community organizations like the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Scouts Canada, and minor hockey. In addition to his community volunteer work, Gerard has extensive experience serving on numerous boards and committees. Outside of his professional activities, he enjoys spending time with his family and is a motorcycle and aviation enthusiast.

Gerard’s entrepreneurial spirit, work ethic and desire to serve others has led him into a variety of careers as a management consultant, litigation specialist and economic consultant. Gerard also enjoys sharing his knowledge of economics with his students as a lecturer at Mount Royal University. As a published author, Gerard has written several articles on community issues as well as numerous papers.

Due to his background as an economist and years of experience with being self employed, Gerard has developed zero tolerance for wasteful spending and strongly believes in fiscal responsibility, accountability, and transparency. He places significant value upon lowering taxes and strengthening our economy all while building communities, caring for the vulnerable, and protecting Alberta values.

As a candidate for Wildrose, Gerard looks forward to serving all Albertans and being a strong voice for the constituents of Calgary-West.
