Jason grew up in Calgary and has been a lifelong resident. He has a BA Honours and an MA, both in History and is currently working on his BEd in order to become a high school teacher. Jason is also married and has four sons.
A long-time political activist, Jason has run in a number of elections, been active in various social justice causes including the anti-poverty and peace movements. In addition, Jason continues to be engaged in fighting racism, especially as a member and spokesperson for Anti-Racist Action.
As a father and university student Jason is concerned to see the general growth of private schools and the increasing student-teacher ratio in classrooms. “Although education is under provincial jurisdiction, the federal government needs to expand the funding it currently provides. It must increase funding to post-secondary instituitons and begin to extend help to primary and secondary public schools across the country. Well-funded, quality education can only be a benefit for society.”
